The Art of
Central Living

When MAP Architects sat down to design Cranmer Terraces, they did so with a clear brief—to create a luxurious oasis in the heart of Christchurch; a safe, secure environment which would act as the gateway to all that this vibrant, rapidly-evolving city has to offer.

The result is simply breath-taking. Located adjacent to both Cranmer Square and the famous Hagley Park, Cranmer Terraces is home to 44 premium townhouses, each with either North or West facing outdoor living spaces and contemporary interiors.

Details Matter

The generous use of glass accentuates the views and amplifies the sense of space, bathing each apartment in natural light and nurturing an intimate connection to the surrounding environment.

Premium fixtures and fittings are on display throughout, with high-end appliances and cutting-edge features promising a lifestyle of utmost comfort.

The décor is at once both contemporary and timeless; a seamless amalgam of creative flair and enduring elegance.

A Sense of History

Although a new addition to the city’s landscape, Cranmer Terraces has an undeniable ‘sense of place’ within the wider community. Seven of the original townhouses, designed by Sheppard and Rout and built on the site in the 1980s, have been retained, informing MAP’s approach and providing a striking juxtaposition between the old and the new.

The designs acknowledge the history, scale and quality of the site, with the architectural forms adding a rich and varied silhouette to the streetscape. The materials do likewise, with a mix of brick veneer, render and metal cladding creating diversity and character while simultaneously paying homage to the traditional Christchurch vernacular.
